Rylan stiffened instantly. “Not possible.” Kade swore. “That can’t be—” Lyra’s heartbeat tripped. The wolf lowered its head… in a bow. “What is that?” she whispered. Rylan’s voice was barely human. “A sentinel.” Lyra’s breath caught. Sentinels were ancient wolves said to serve only one bloodline—one house. A house believed extinct.

Was that what had spurred on the sudden change of heart? I didn't have any answers to the questions, but I knew the kiss last night wasn't a figment of my imagination. It had been real and I almost didn't believe it. Lyra and I were polar opposites. Just as we were all about to start walking down the street, a wolf that was so dark brown it was practically black sprinted over, quickly shifting into Alpha Blake, also completely naked. And, holy shit, he was fucking hot. I mean, he was hot while he was dressed, but damn. I blushed, feeling my face burning red hot. I was gawking at my sister's friend's mate. Ronan’s reasonable whisper was prompt ignored when it reached my ears where I was hunched over the frail woman, tracing my fingers over her arms in an effort to calm her. This was all my fault.
