We were ready. The ball would start when daylight faded and twilight emerged. I peered in the mirror my ice blue eyes were alert and ready for trouble my hair ribboned down my back resting at my waist. Tonight would be my last in the pack. Vivian was slipping on cleanly polished boots before double checking her silver moon necklace around her neck. Out of habit I played with my own matching necklace my fingers looping around the intricate chain. Matching. A gift from our mother. “Well let’s do the best job we can and then skedaddle.” Vivian joked running a brush through her hair once more.

My eyes meet hers, before Shawn's, who is looking at me with that, ‘you've been caught’ stare. I break eye contact immediately, then look at Ophelia, who is looking between Shawn and I. Our both gaze collides, and she continues. “When Hati made his bargain with the Moon, he promised her to take from his lineage, whomever she prefers as a peace pact. After years of many generations, the moon chose Shawn, hence his silver eyes as opposed to ours. She blesses him with silver immunity, so that it does not burn him. And when he turned you, Eva, the pact stretched. You are blood of his blood now, in the Moon’s eyes. She cannot deny you the smallest mercy, because denying you would break the pact.”

Yvonne asked me to focus on a beam of light on the ceiling. I concentrated on the light. After a few minutes, she asked gently, “Who are you?” “Aurora Twilight.” “Do you know Harry Chalamet?” “Yes, I do.” “No, you don’t.” “I do. I know him. “He’s braver than I thought.” I giggled, watching Mira glare at Milo with mock fury. “He’s doomed,” I whispered. When the sun began to set, Storm brought out a small box of sparklers. “Don’t ask how I got these,” he said. “Just light them.” Within moments, the lakeside glowed with streaks of gold and silver as we waved the sparklers through the air, laughter echoing around us. Mira traced shapes, hearts, moons, and something that suspiciously looked like a wolf howling. Milo accidentally burned his sleeve, cursing while she doubled over laughing.

The witches closed in, their laughter echoing like a chorus of nightmares. Something inside Aqua snapped. A surge of dark energy, unfamiliar and terrifying, welled up within her. She felt her pendant grow hot against her skin, the clear crystal turning black as smoke. The air around her crackled with raw power as she turned back towards the attackers, her fear morphing into a blinding rage.

Raymond yelled, panic creeping into his voice as the wind began to come at them. I struggled to rein in the wind, but it was too late. The gusts swept us up and I watched in shock as Raymond and Fiona’s hair... Wig. Raymond had a perfectly even blend of silver and black hair. Fiona had more silver strands to silver. There was only one species who were gifted with Silver hair. “Silver Shade pack,” I muttered under my breath. There was a blend of black. Twilight Ridge. It was not hard to connect the dots. Lily was the silvershade princess who became Marcus’s slave, whom he confessed to be his mate. My eyes darkened with rage.

And Madison wasn't making it any better with her stupid drama. “Xavier, she was poisoned. The attack wasn't normal. They sent him after her. Look up there, what do you see?” She pointed to the ceiling but all I could see were the lights. “Nothing, I don't see anything”. “That’s where you're wrong. There is a dream cloud hanging over there. It's a spell meant to drain the life out of her. It feeds on her energy and her life. We must get it out before it takes everything she has. That's why he took her so he could use her blood to make the spell.”

I must end it soon. Sara prepared multiple spells as she advanced forward. Her slashes were imbued in white light of the Holy element. She figured out that Midnight’s suit was made from black slime, a creature that had a high concentration of dark magic. Aside from that, Sara also casted ice and lightning elemental spells to deal additional damage and throw Midnight off. Midnight was supporting himself with similar elemental spells that countered some of Sara’s attacks. The swords in his hands were parrying Sara’s sword, but despite having an extra sword, Midnight was still getting sliced up.

“What is it?” Paula asked her from the side. Zara pointed at the screen and showed her the shiny thing. “Look at here. Lucien was driving me out” She played the video of him driving her out and a sparkle appeared when they were passing the main gate. She froze the screen and pointed at the sparkle. “Look, Look here. Did you see the sparkle? It’s as if he put something on his hand but as long as I remember Lucien’s not a fan of accessories. It reflected because of the sunlight from the window and sparkled. I want to see what it is”

“Scarlett! Uncle Viktor says we can light sparklers if you come inside now!” Scarlett hesitated, torn between her new obsession and the promise of fireworks. Talon solved her dilemma by scooping up the skateboard with one hand and unclipping her helmet with the other. “Sparklers first. Board tomorrow at sunrise if you're up for it.” She groaned but grabbed Logan's hand, dragging him toward the house. “C'mon, slowpoke!” Talon lingered as the kids disappeared inside, his fingers brushing against mine as the first stars of twilight winked to life overhead. The clubhouse windows glowed golden, laughter and music spilling out into the gathering dusk.
