Chapter 22 Goodbye Trent could not believe how different life at sea was, his eyes enhanced to see into the darkness and the animals and creatures were so different. His temporary tail was gray and his eyes changed into a bright green. Jack’s tail is blue like his grandfathers and Xander and Xavier had gorgeous onyx colored tails. Jack loved seeing Loralei in her mermaid form, her beautiful green and purple tail like no other. “Baby, your tail has two colors”, Trent mind linked his mate, voice filled with awe.

The sky above turned… wrong. It wasn't night, nor day. A blend of both—twilight frozen in place, and there, at the center of it, stood a girl. She couldn’t have been more than twelve or thirteen. She wore a tunic the color of stormlight, her hair a strange shade—neither blonde nor dark, but a shimmering in-between, like starlight in motion. Her eyes glowed faintly gold… with a rim of blue. Or maybe violet. It changed when I looked at her too long.

I push all those dooming questions aside and take in the joys of today. Within no time, the ceremony is done and reception is in progress. Dinner and drinks and music. The party doesn’t stop as the sun sets. The backyard is illuminated by fairy lights and the glow of a near full moon. Twyla’s voice regrettably fills my head. Not the exact words, but it’s all the same. ‘Come the next full moon, I’ll be what you refuse.’ How much longer before Twyla turns into a wolf? When is she going to decide to show her face again?

He crossed his arms and rested his elbow on the armchair, his palm supporting his tilted head as if he were assessing the children. “Tales,” Raja called out, indicating he was scared. “I know,” was all Tales could mutter as he didn’t look away from the man’s face. He stared at it as if engraving the man’s face into his memory. He clenched his teeth. The man smirked darkly and stood at the center of the mezzanine. “Welcome to Twilight Organization. I am happy and excited that some of you will be part of our family,” said the twisted man.
