“Something like that. He’s more than just a loan shark, though. He’s connected. Dangerous.”
I let out a bitter laugh. “Perfect,” I muttered, shoving my hands into my coat pockets. “This just keeps getting better.”
We turned a corner, and the streetlights flickered in time with the buzzing sound coming from the nearby neon sign. The dim light barely illuminated the name *The Iron Claw*, a run-down bar that looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in years. If I had to bet, the place probably smelled like old cigarettes and regret.
“Here?” I asked, raising an eyebrow as I glanced toward the entrance.
