“Then make clothes like this.” I looked down at the page. It was a crude sketch, of course, scribbles and loops and wildly colored blocks that only made sense in the way a child’s heart did. But something about it, there was movement, chaotic, yet filled with joy. Emotion without filter. The outline of a high-collared jacket in red, with mismatched buttons and flared sleeves. A skirt that twirled like a flame. Scribbles of stars above the figure’s head.

But when I turned with the plates in my hands, I saw that Thea had spread out a bunch of coloring supplies on the table. Upon closer inspection, I saw that she wasn’t just coloring; she was sketching designs for robes. They were childish and out of proportion, but her inspiration was clear. The robe she was currently working on had large pockets, a sash, and a fluffy collar that looked almost comical on the sick figure that was wearing it. But it did look… nice. Really nice, actually. I leaned closer, inspecting the drawing. “Thea, that looks really cozy.” Thea beamed and held it up for me to see. “I think Daddy would like it. Can we make it?”

It was a design of various suits, and it was colored like it had been brought to life. "Of course, they would be beautiful. I worked on them," he said proudly, and I scoffed.

It could’ve been any girl with long hair in a cape. I looked at his drawing and wasn’t surprised at all to see that he’d drawn himself shirtless, standing with his arms up, his arms bulging with muscle, his face lifted to the sky in a menacing howl. Even though he was a human in the drawing, his inner wolf was clear. So was the darkness that had overtaken him.

I wasn’t a legend on their screens. It was in one of those corridors that a little boy tugged on my sleeve. He couldn’t have been more than seven. His cheeks were smudged with dirt, his clothes too thin for the draft that seeped through the walls. He held up a folded piece of paper. “I drew this for you,” he said shyly. I opened it and froze. The sketch was crude but unmistakable, me, standing tall, but with wolf ears atop my head and eyes colored in with a furious red. Around me, lines of light radiated. The boy looked proud.
