Untamed
The moon appeared unusually bright and sharp.
Kyle took the lead along a slender deer trail, holding onto Lydia’s wrist tightly.
She felt the warmth of his hand. Through their bond, she sensed his heartbeat — strained, anxious, yet resolute.
“You’re injured,” she murmured.
He didn’t turn to look at her.
“It will mend.”
Yet she noticed the burn on his shoulder, the claw mark left by a spirit. The edges still gave out a faint glow, as if the injury retained a memory of its creator.
