The night was dark and cold as the crickets in the night only made the sound out of the silence of the vast dark woods. Kael was holding the rope of the horse following them while Luna was carrying a small torch. She led him towards the big tree up ahead. Kael saw a thick rope hanging on the branch of the tree. He looked up and noticed that the tree was alive not like the rest of the trees in the dark woods and the branches above rose a little higher than the dead trees. The big tree has a dark and oaky wood. The leaves were big and rose above the branches.

now, thankfully Oasis is really great at hiding her existence. I think I will like her. I would have liked her better if she had answered all of my queries. My sister is the best sister you could find in the whole world. Even though she doesn’t share her problems which I wanted her to, she would listen to ours, and wiggle out a suitable solution. I lived just across the creek. Then, I saw the children playing. Near them, there was a puddle that starts to recede at the edge of the river. With their snot dangling, they cheerfully played partially naked under the umbrella of the cherry tree. Indeed, the night before, the rain fell heavily. But then, it was the sun that does not want to lose to show off its power.

Iditan added. Still captivated by the unusual soft countenance on Iditan’s face, I reclined back against the Oak tree which seemed not to posses the hardness of a normal tree, waiting for her to tell the story. The trunk of the tree was soft and comfortable, adding to the serenity. “Iditan…” I called softly as she took her time, curiosity to know more about this protector Oak tree which could seemingly make one at ease and free of worries getting the best of me.

There was somebody underneath OUR tree. The tree that Nana and Papa called symbol of their love. It will be mine one day... and I will care for OUR tree... Oaktree. The tree was here before Papa brought the land. The government was distributing land at a very low rate on the side of the hill, so Papa seized the opportunity without asking his angry parents. This is a euphemism because it was on the schedule area with few local tribes nearby to communicate. This is how Nana and Papa meet.

Kat could see the drive was lined with thick trees. “It is going to be impossible to find Jude in here if he wonders off.” She glanced worried at Robert and back at the barbequed covered boy. “Don’t worry babe. There’s a gate around the property itself.” He rubbed her shoulder. “Well this isn’t creepy or anything.” Ray snarked. “Its only creepy because its dark RayRay. Things always look different in the dark. It’s just new, new always feels uncertain, until it’s not new anymore.” Kat smiled back at Ray through the rear view.

As we approached the ancient oak tree, a soft breeze whispered secrets through its leaves, beckoning us forward.

He offered his wide hand, “Let me help you.” “I can help myself.” I stood, and shook off the dirt off my skirt. He just shrugged, “Okay.” He continued and went under the oak. It was only a bit higher than Gabriel, but taller for me that I was able to raise my head high and see its perfect oddity. Its shrunken trunk and all that was connected to it had perfect shade of homey brown and its foliage was thick, but there were spaces that allowed rays of sunshine to pass through it.
