I pick at my fingernails and twist my fingers around each other. "What are the cons?" she asks me once I've regained my composure. "They'll hate me, because eventually they will find out that I had a failed engagement and think that if I wasn't good enough for one man, how could I be good enough for him. I wrap my hands around the mug, grounding myself in the warmth seeping through the ceramic like it might somehow prepare me for what's to come. “What?” she shrugs, turning to me. “It's true and I'm not going to sit here and pretend that we're just catching up." She points a finger at me. "You're getting married to a man that we didn't even know about until yesterday and you never even bothered to tell us when it happened." She shakes her head, "We had to find out about our best friend's engagement from a magazine cover and in case you haven't noticed that was a pretty shitty thing to do."
