Unsent Messages Novels & Stories

Before I could decide, the call went to voicemail on its own. I took the phone and opened the messages. They were the ones from earlier this morning that I hadn't read—all still marked as unread: [Rea, can we meet up?] [Rea, there's something I'm not sure if I should tell you.] [Rea, please reply when you see this.] He'd sent those in the morning, and there were two more from the afternoon: [Rea, I'm waiting for your reply.] [Rea, are you really busy?]

Me: I can’t be here for too long. Me: Rand, please say something. The messages sat there, taunting me. Delivered, but unread. No reply. No typing indicator. Just silence. Maybe he was on his way. I just had to wait a little more. ***** I waited 20 long minutes. As soon as time ran out ,I grabbed my phone. My thumb jabbed at the screen, refreshing again and again, still nothing. My stomach twisted. The single gray tick beside each message confirmed it—he wasn’t getting them. Or worse, he was and just didn’t care.

I was going to have to end up giving this particular email up and handling it over to my secretaries to handle and manage themselves and create a new one once again, the way I had done with my last two emails which I had ended up giving up due to the amount of deals that comes in from there, which I was way too busy to handle on my own. I closed the email app without clicking on any of the mails and clicked on my iMessage app, completely turning a blind app to the rest of the social media related apps where thousands of notifications were waiting for me. Some messages were waiting for me already like I had expected, and I scrolled through the list of new messages, seeing that James had sent

Finally, I typed out a message: “Tina, I’m so sorry. Can we please talk about this?” I hit send and waited, my heart pounding. The message showed as delivered, then read. But no response came.

Daniel said. Tyler turned away and pressed one hand against the wall. “There is another possibility. She often scheduled delayed messages when she moved documents.” Elaine stopped typing. “Explain how she used them.” “She prepared a message in advance and cancelled it after a transfer succeeded. If she lost access to her phone, the message went out without her doing anything.” “Do you know that this message was queued?” “I do not know. I remember thinking the delivery felt too exact, but I never saw the metadata.”

She expressionlessly hung up the call before deleting his contact without any hesitation. There were over nine hundred unread messages in the chat window between them, all of which she had sent. She now found it absurd.

He scrolled and the previous message was written with the photo - “Look at our cheeseballs. They turned three today. I miss you, Di (Sister).” The message was sent six months ago. It was not delivered. There was no sign of delivered or read. He scrolled up. Then he realised that the last message was also sent but undelivered. He checked a few messages, Elaina had shared her children’s photo on every birthday. And before that she had shared their monthly pictures. “She was sharing these with Ivana, but why didn't she receive them or read?” His mind asked stupidly. He mentally slapped himself, “None of your concern, Aaron.”

And there, on W******p, a new message notification from an unsaved number. Three messages. My breath caught. I stared at the preview. Hi. It’s Kael.

A thousand emotions passed through my heart and mind, but they were too quick to process any. Another message came, stealing my attention away. I looked at the notification pop-up. It was from Axel Stone. I sighed and opened the message app. It had only four chats. One from Axel Stone, who had sent him like over one hundred of messages. One was Rowan Falcone, who had sent him twelve messages in total. One was Eliot, who had also sent him twenty-four messages. And the last chat belonged to me.

I’ll add you back in a few days. A red exclamation mark appeared. Your message has been sent, but was rejected by the recipient. Vance had blocked him. Graham: …
