I said carefully. “There’s a first time for everything,” he winked. “I trust you, Miss Brooks.” And then, gently—like a whisper over the rim of his wineglass—he added, “Don’t feel guilty. Just focus on living a happier life. You’ve already spent enough of it surviving.” Something stirred inside me. Something quiet and aching. For a long time, I thought the only person who could make me feel seen like that was Elliot. But now, it was Mr. Ivory who had reached into the cracks of me and said: You deserve better.

No wonder… No wonder he had that thick bandage on his left hand that day; he was planning to take his own life. My hand trembled as I held the paper, and I collapsed onto the floor. Keith caught me and shakily pulled out a tissue to wipe my tears. I felt disoriented as I made my way downstairs. The cold wind pierced through me, but I didn't feel a hint of chill. As I stepped out of the funeral home, holding Fred's urn, the gloomy weather matched my mood. Light rain began to fall, and I looked up at the overcast sky. But with me, no chains, no law would bind you, but only the reality of the untamed that was taken unfairly away from you.” Lydia reached out towards him, with her fingers trembling with expectation. And for the first time, she experienced an unfamiliar warmth against her fingertips - vibrant and alive. It was as if she felt hopeful within her.

His golden amber eyes were sharp, cutting through the space between us like a blade, as if he could see straight through me. Chiseled jawline. Messy dark brown hair. A perfectly fitted black sleeve shirt, that stretched on his abs. Damn. Then, his gaze snapped up and locked onto mine. Everything shifted. I froze. The air in the room thickened, pressing down on me like a weight. A strange heat crawled up my spine, unfamiliar and unsettling. What the hell is this? His eyes,deep,dark, and unreadable,held me captive. Like he was searching for something inside me, something only he could see.

Trampling people's life, trampling clans and sects just to bring someone like himself back to life. He wore a black robe with a black leather belt around his strong slender waist. He wore long black shoes just like her. They were ending below their knees. His sleeves were tight unlike hers, they were wide. A black wolf's fur scarf was resting on his broad shoulders and his lapel had golden embroidery on it. She never pitied herself, no matter what she went through...but one thing made her pity herself. She engraved his flame tattoo between her chest and he engraved her flame tattoo on his right arm. Their souls were tangled but none of them cared.
