Until I Wrote Him
And just like that, I’m back in Barbados , back to the nights when I’d sneak out to the beach and chase the waves just to feel alive.
Back to the version of myself that believed in the ocean’s language, that thought home could be found in the sound of water and salt and sky.
But even then, home wasn’t really home. It was just a place I stood in, waiting for something that never came.
It hits me now how familiar that feels.
Because here I am again, sitting beside a man whose silence feels like a promise and a warning all at once, and I don’t know which one hurts more that he won’t let me in, or that I keep wishing he would.
