I responded moments later, throwing my gaze away.
He did this. But not exactly.
“I’m sorry,” She croaked out, forcing my gaze back on her face. “I truly am.”
The tears rolled down her cheeks uncontrollably now, and she reached an arm up to wipe them.
Then I lifted my hand and touched her arm lightly, pulling it away from her face, to wipe at the tears. “You shouldn’t be sorry, Princesa,” I said, a corner of my lips tilted in a smirk.
My thumb caressed her lower lip. “I vowed to protect you, didn’t I? So, I would burn the world for you, if it meant fulfilling my vow to you. Everything, and everyone in the world. Down to ashes. To protect you.”
