I stepped forward, shadows licking at my skin, dark power coiling in my veins. “She is not yours,” Andres growled, stepping in front of me. Golden light erupted, filling the chamber. Alessio laughed. “She’s already yours, brother, in more ways than you realize. But the shadows… they have other plans.” The tension snapped. I felt it—the shadow inside me, eager, stretching its claws. Kira hissed, warning me, but part of me… wanted to unleash it. Andres’s voice cut through the haze. “Valentina! Do not!”

“I don’t feel betrayed. I just… I just love you.” For a moment, I almost felt something twist in my chest. Almost. Then the doors exploded open. Gunfire shattered glass and screams erupted as bodies hit the floor. Black-clad figures flooded the hall like shadows made strong, weapons raised, movements precise and merciless. The Shadow people. My blood went cold. “ALTHEA!” Valerio roared. Chaos swallowed everything. Guests screamed and scattered. Tables overturned. Bullets tore into pillars and chandeliers. A blood-curdling scream tore through the air as I plummeted from the skyscraper, blacking out before I hit the ground. "Lily." The camera lingered mercilessly on my mangled form. The voice was unhinged with madness. "You're finally going to die. Don't blame me. Blame yourself for being so vile. "You knew damn well I loved Shane, and you still went ahead and married him! "In this world, only I am meant to love him! Everyone who'd try to take him from me should die!" The screen quaked, the view flipped, and there was Joanna's twisted face, filling the big screen. The footage cut off abruptly.

Wolves were running all over, and then she got a mindlink. "The Shadow Howlers are here, and it looks like they came to fight," Her dad said in the mindlink to the pack. Why would The Shadow Howlers come to their pack? They were the pack that basically policed other packs, but The Last Moon Pack hadn't done anything wrong. In fact, they were so vanilla that Bianca hoped her mate would take her away. She picked Trisha up and ran toward the pack house. They got to the front porch just as the warriors arrived.

Damien caught her before she hit the ground. “It’s defending itself,” Nicola gasped, her chest heaving. Dean cursed under his breath. “Looks like we’re doing this the hard way.” The ground began to shake, and shadows materialized around them, forming into humanoid shapes with glowing eyes. The air grew colder, the temperature dropping rapidly. “Great,” Dylan muttered, drawing his weapon. “Shadow guardians. Just what we needed.” The creatures lunged, their movements unnaturally quick. Damien and Dean met them head-on, their blades clashing against the shadowy forms. Dylan stayed close to Nicola, shielding her as she worked to stabilize the charm.

She twisted, using his momentum to slam him into the second attacker. Luka’s shadows wrapped the third wolf’s legs, yanking him down. Lila pounced, ripping out his throat with a snarl that was far too mature for her age.

I found her.” At that, both women straightened. “The hybrid?” Valentina asked quietly. I nodded slowly. “She’s with the Shadow Mountain pack. I smelled her blood tonight.” His voice lowered, hungry with memory. “It is not wolf’s blood alone. Forbidden, and yet… intoxicating.”
