he screams, light dimming, pain cutting his voice.
“Raymond!” I roar, shadows exploding, tearing through hunters, blood soaking the dirt. “Hold on!” I dive for him, shadows slicing the net, burning my hands like fire.
“Got you,” I say, pulling him into my arms, shadows shielding us. “Always protect you.”
“And I you—partners,” he whispers, light weak, shaking, and I kiss him hard, tasting sweat and fear, our bond flaring like a wildfire.
“More coming!” Dante yells, shadows slicing, blood dripping from his leg. “We’re getting overrun!”
