Drake yelled over the gunfire suddenly exploding within the room. Within a second, the vamps rushed us, and we took them all down. Zac ripped the heads off some, then shot another, placing the pistol right between the guy's eyes. Annie's karate and jujitsu moves were unsurpassed as she moved with lightning speed, ripping apart the vamps in her wake. As for me, I ripped apart every vamp in my way, blowing the heads off any who got in my way as I made my way purposefully across the room, my eyes never leaving Drake.

Vampire bloodlines were rare, and there had always been a strong emphasis on their descendants, so it would be odd if she were. The girl appeared to be very young, yet she had suffered abuse, judging by the scars on her arms and legs. I lifted the girl into my arms and decided to take her to see a doctor. Vampire wounds usually healed quickly, so why were hers so difficult to heal? I gently sat her in the passenger seat and closed the car door.

Jaxon stood next to me, his gaze fixed on the shadowy alley in front of us. And suddenly, appearing like shadows stepping out of the darkness, they arrived. The vampires glided gracefully, their eyes softly glowing in the darkness. I observed a minimum of ten of them, yet I was aware that there would be additional ones. They consistently dispatched advance scouts - assassins with the ability to infiltrate undetected and attack swiftly. I gestured to Jaxon, and he gave a nod. We had to be patient for the ideal time, the flawless chance to attack. If we were to initiate the attack prematurely, we would forfeit the advantage of catching the enemy off guard.
