Had she said, vampire? “Is it blood?” I ask with a scowl on my face. “No, no. It’s Tylone. A fruit that can only be found near the blue flame volcano.” Phew. I was scared for a moment there, although ‘blue flame volcano’ sounds quite menacing as well. After Hilda leaves the room, I go about setting the scene for the performance of a lifetime. I situate the candles around the room, and go ahead with draping the side lamps with red chiffon sheets.

Christian built up on that, “Inert, meaning that it needs a trigger to be activated. Heat, water, chemicals.” Greg started eliminating possibilities from there, “It won’t be chemicals. That’d be way too complicated. The trigger would be something simple, something that any vampire would touch or use by reflex, something…” POP! The bulbs on all the lamps exploded and the chemicals within filled the space. Agonizing shrieks of vampires were deafening everyone in the hideout. Lucianne didn’t think twice before she carried Pellethia and dashed out, and Xandar did the same for Octavia.

“No, these vampires are not scavengers.” The vampire scents are not too close but the distance is enough to say that they smell like shadow vampires. Although shadow vampires know how to cloak their scents, they can also heighten it to scare and threaten other low-ranked vampires. “Wanted: Saleslady,” Pox read the poster nailed to an electric pole. Then Pox glanced inside the vape shop. “Someone is inside, staring at us.”

The aroma of freshly drawn blood permeated the atmosphere, and those who were standing outside were taken aback to see a group of regular humans gathering around a vampire. They didn't understand how they could appear so knowledgeable, but they managed to kill the vampire by driving a stake through his heart. Vampires lose the ability to see and make use of their eyes when they use mirrors to create light. Smart people know that to kill a vampire, they need to take advantage of all the seemingly useless items that are being thrown away. They even can use knives to sever the heads of vampires and set fire to the rest of their bodies.

I wouldn't let that happen now. My whole body morphed into my vampire self. My eyes turned into a bright glowing red colour. My canines sharpened and my nails grew longer. I whipped my head towards Maya one last time to make sure she was safe before bolting down with the sole purpose to attack that damn creature. The wind rushed through me, my feet dug on the dirt as I was skillfully making my way through the thick trees. His pestering odour grew stronger and stronger meaning I was getting closer.
