Stepping over Dorian, I took her hands in mine. "That's right," Sharra cooed, encouraging me. I barely heard her. Every inch of my body craved his blood as she placed the slowing heart in my hands. Sickened at seeing Christopher so broken, I turned away. As I stared at the heart and smelled the blood, my body wanted one thing. To do exactly what Sharra wanted. Consume the blood from his heart. The rational part of my brain kept telling me to stop, that I was falling into the vampire queen's trap. But the rest of me didn't care. As in my vision, the heart was all I could see, all I wanted. Slowly I lifted the heart closer to my mouth. The warmth and scent nearly pushed me into a frenzy.

My hand punched through the vampire's back, fingers closing around his cold heart. The sound was wet and final. Blood exploded across Calla's white shirt as I ripped the heart from his chest. The vampire's eyes went wide with shock before the light faded from them. His body crumpled to the ground. I dropped the heart and immediately reached for Calla. "Are you hurt?" She looked up at me, her green eyes wide. But it wasn't fear I saw there. It was hunger. Her pupils were dilated. Her breathing was quick and shallow. I could smell her arousal, sweet and thick in the air.

she answered. "But he'll wake up soon, right?" I asked her, and she giggled at me. "Of course! He's a pure-blood vampire, and besides, they could not pull out his heart," Ash confidently answered as she pointed at the most extensive stitch in Daniel's chest. "His heart?" I asked, and she nodded. "Pureblood vampires will only die once their heart has been pulled out of their bodies," Ash explained, making me feel relieved, knowing that Daniel would wake up soon.

Both of our eyes met his and his glee was crazed. “Yes! Did you know that the key to vampires ability of immortality actually lies within our hearts? The venom coats the inside of our hearts and it pumps through our entire body, coating everything in that venom. That’s what stops us from aging, stops us from dying. It all starts from the heart.” That same heart felt like it was sinking into the pit of my stomach. Hector’s grip on me tighter and I felt the slight shake in his grasp.

The vampire shrieked and tried to struggle out of his hold as he felt Jacob’s hand cut into his chest region and snap out his heart from its place. Without much ado, Jacob threw the blackened heart to the ground, pushing the vampire with a huge force far away from his heart so that he won’t have access to it.

"She's trying to manipulate the Heart to her own ends." Aria nodded, her gaze fixed on Evangeline. The vampire queen was now hovering over the Heart, her hand outstretched as if to claim it as her own. Suddenly, the Heart began to hum, a low, resonant sound that vibrated through the chamber. Aria felt a surge of power, a connection to the Heart that was both exhilarating and terrifying. It was calling to her, beckoning her to reach out and claim it. But as she reached for the Heart, a new vision emerged. She saw herself, consumed by the Heart's power, her eyes glowing with an eerie light. She saw the destruction she would unleash, the innocent lives that would be lost.

So he nodded. “I will wait until your return,” he said. “I have a gift for you,” she said softly, just as hell broke loose in the entrance of his mansion. The yell of one of his vampires was heard as a woosh of brightness entered the pool room, three of his people turning to ash in seconds as a silver stake streaked through the air. “Mavery, you lied!!” came the yell of a woman in all black as she rushed forward, as another of his vampires trying to stop her entrance went down.
