Chapter 2: Adrian and Seraphina's First Encounter The moonlight cascaded through the dense canopy, casting an ethereal glow upon the forest floor where Seraphina stood, entranced by the innocent play of the young vampires under her care. Their laughter echoed through the night, a melodic refrain that momentarily lifted her spirits. Nonetheless, she began, “Pelly, your email sounded urgent. What happened? And how can we help?” Pellethia’s smile fell in an instant, as did Octavia’s. The warm and welcoming atmosphere from before turned heavy and serious as Pellethia cleared her throat and began, “Aunt Lucy, last night, one of our villages, Falling Vines, was invaded. Every living vampire had been abducted. The scents left in most homes confirmed that lycans and werewolves had been there.”

1st September 1335 Gwendolyn was returning home, she trudged past the lonely path that led back to the mansion. The night was dark, but the moon accompanied her, shedding its light on the earth and brightening its surface. Embracing herself, Gwendolyn gulped as she cited the mansion from afar, she was almost there and she was going to make it home. Seeing a faint silhouette behind her, she took to her heels, tripping and falling over. She could feel its presence as it approached closer. While she was looking for answers to her questions, something caught her eye. "A black cape? Long-sleeved white shirt? And a red bow?” Cyrille's eyes begin to widen. "This is how a vampire dresses in classic Dracula films!" she exclaimed. “Oh my—” She couldn't finish her words and immediately covered her mouth to keep from shouting. She was overjoyed with the mixed emotions she was experiencing at the time, and she couldn't believe that after days of fruitless hunting, she'd have the good fortune to meet a vampire.

I expect Bellamy to chase after them, as angry as he seems. But he waits for them to be out of sight before racing to my side. I am at the base of the stairs and until this second I hadn't noticed that I have collapsed down onto the bottom step. I'm leaning against the side of the building and shaking. Bellamy stops a few feet away from me and hesitates. He tilts his head to the side as he looks me over, searching for any injury I assume.
