Just as I finished my last bite, the door burst open, and a thin, beautiful woman walked across the marble floors in a ruby gown with the same shade of heels to match. With platinum blonde hair and crimson eyes, she was the epitome of a flawless vampire. It was an effort not to feel envious of her sizeable breasts pushed up by a corset or the way her facial features were perfectly aligned. Dorian narrowed his eyes, his knuckles growing white around the stem of his glass. “Ellise.” “Dorian.” She dipped low into a curtsy, showcasing her impressive cleavage. “I am here to invite you to this evening’s banquet.”

Valerie corrected her appearance once more in the mirror before she picked up her small bag and her black 5 cm high heels. "I hope you will support me at work today," Valerie said to her worn-out high heels that had broken some time ago and had to be taken to a repair shop. My chest tightened. “What?” She turned to me, eyes blazing. “You’re one of them.” Then everything exploded. The tall one moved first, faster than I could see. One second he was ten feet away, the next he was lunging, teeth bared, hand outstretched toward my throat. I didn’t think or scream. I reacted. Something inside me flared.
