"I'm not dead," he reassured her as he moved away from her contact. He was uneasy with the way she was staring at him and the hunger that the smell of her blood was awakening in him. "I'm not dead," he reaffirmed.
"And after that, what took place?" She bawled her eyes out, her hands falling to her lap as she did so, and the light shone off of her blood.
He reassured her by saying, "I fell asleep." "Vampires have no choice but to sleep as the sun rises on the Day of St. Januarius, and when we sleep, it is as if we have already passed away."
