Something she could only imagine existed in books and movies. A pair of red eyes and two long fangs that stuck out of the mouth as though they were always meant to be there. Except there was no blood dripping from his mouth as always described in books. Yet, she was still scared senseless at the sight of a living, vampire right in front of her eyes. He moved closer to her again but this time, she was prepared and understood what he was. She lunged on her feet in fright and prepared to flee. But she had barely moved two steps when that figure appeared in front of her again.

The girl questioned William for a long time until she understood the meaning of this strange behavior of mortals. Castles were given to vampires either by inheritance or captured during wars. Each of them had adjacent lands: villages, trade routes, fields and gardens, just like any other aristocratic estate. If a vampire was stupid or especially bloodthirsty, he would capture subjects, making them slaves and potential food. Such castles became the subject of stories about evil spirits and frightening tales.

Placing the book back on the shelf, I walked down the shelves skimming through the titles of the famous books as I finally reached a dead end. Hey, Mr. Wall! How long have you been here?
