They were all screaming Elspeth's name. Silently I stood up from where she attacked me. She has no knowledge that I blocked her attack. I sighed and removed the waterfall braids onto my hair before I break their fun. "Silence!" I screamed loud, and with one word, what I wanted was then granted. Pure silence covered the place as I ascend, glowing because of my aura. I held my head high and turned my gaze to the demons around me. With a glare, one by one they went down onto their knees. "I am Veronica Vane. I am your one and only true Queen and Herald. No impostor can bring me down to the ground."

She has a fond smile tugging at her lips. "You haven't found your mate yet?" I gape at her, and she shakes her head. I scrunch my nose, feeling bad for her. "Hopefully, the moon goddess will have mercy on me," she adds. Then she looks at Kaziel, who simply goes ahead to check on the pasta. "What is it, Kira?” he asks her, and she winces. "I just got new intel. Vanya has been gathering a vampire army, Alpha."

I mirror her look, curl my lip in disdain. Her smirk disappears. She approaches me, every step a threat. “I would think that by now you would have learned not to provoke our kind. Now that you know something stronger lurks under our skin.” She sneers. So, Vanessa is a werewolf too. Why does that not surprise me. I huff a humorless laugh at the realization. “I’m not afraid of you, Vanessa. I already know I can beat you in a fight.” I remind her hoping she remembers that she needed a horse the last time we fought.
