I looked back at him, bruised and bloody, still trying to defend me.
Charlie slowly pushed himself up from the floor, groaning as he staggered to his feet. His lip was bleeding, one cheek already starting to swell, but the fire in his eyes was still there, burning hotter than ever.
“Y-You know what, Alisa?” he spat, wiping blood from his mouth. “You’re wasting your breath.”
Alisa paused mid-step, her perfectly polished boot clicking sharply on the stone floor as she turned back toward us. “Oh? Do enlighten me, failure.”
