Even if I can’t harm her, there are people who can do it without my interference.” No shit! I hated this Kaige Jin. Even Dante wasn’t this bad. This blue-eyed guy was the true villain of this novel. He was talking about how he knew about keeping vows, but he would let his subjects harm me.

Practiced enough to fool anyone listening. But Elena noticed it now. That tiny pause before Seraphina smiled. That slight sharpness hiding beneath softness whenever Elena failed to behave like the villain she was supposed to be. Interesting. Very interesting. “I’m surviving,” Elena replied calmly. For one second— Seraphina’s expression flickered. Gone almost instantly. But Elena caught it. Because heroes became uncomfortable when villains stopped collapsing properly. Cassian looked between them once. Then toward Elena again. His gaze lingered slightly longer than necessary.

But, this wasn't the subject right now. “Do you know what is the difference between a naive fool and a hero of justice?" She clenched her fist, a fierce expression on her face. "It's their strength. The first requirement of being a hero isn’t being right. It’s being strong. That’s why the hero always wins.”
