he begged, his voice a whisper in a storm. Her laughter was ice. "No, I won't stop. Not until you're dead, just like my daughter," Cathleen declared, rising from her throne of pain and towering over him. "Bella is..." Xavier's words faltered, teetering on the precipice of truth. "Bella is dead; why can't you say it?" Cathleen's heels clicked a death knell on the marble, punctuating each syllable. Rising, Xavier steadied himself, his hands pressing into his thighs. He looked at her—really looked—at the villain he had unwittingly sculpted from the flesh and bone of his wife. With shaking fingers, he retrieved his phone.

He couldn’t take the pain, and he wanted to take his revenge. Edward came to stand before him and placed his hand on Xavier’s hand, which held Ace captive. “He was just a messenger in this entire scheme. The villain and mastermind of all this are back in Wahala.” Xavier’s hands released around Ace’s neck and he choked and tried to take in as much air as he could into his lungs. His hands wrapped around his neck to massage and ease the pain inflicted. He barely began massaging when Xavier threw a hard punch at his face, knocking the air out of him, and he fell to the wooden floor, unconscious. Casy ran to him on the floor to attend to him.

It was a face from his past, someone who shared his desire for revenge. "Killian Montgomery," George growled, his voice laced with malice. "It seems fate has brought us together once again. His eyes gleamed with a twisted delight, reveling in the prospect of vengeance. “Cut the theatrics, Victor.” He laughed. “You made it further than I thought. I admit, I underestimated the fire in you. Because somewhere, deep down, you know that I’m not the real villain.” She didn’t flinch. “You tried to kill Killian.” “And he tried to destroy me first,” Victor snapped, his mask slipping. “I built the Graves empire from the shadows. I made him. And the moment he felt strong enough, he turned on me. He took everything.”

His eyes went wide, locking onto mine. "Because they aren't enemies," Xavier whispered, his voice shaking with a cold, sickening truth that made my skin crawl. "They aren't fighting a war against each other at all, Raine. My father and Killian Vance... those two dirty motherfuckers have been working the exact same goddamn plan from opposite ends the whole time."
