Vow Of The Indomitable Novels & Stories

Not wanting to look or appear weak. But you are weak already. A tiny voice in her head spoke. Sophia swallowed hard. She felt anger shimmering at the surface. As she struggled to maintain her cool. The voice was unmistakably recognized. It was a voice that made her feel worse. She knew she already has an enemy, one she'd do everything within her power to defeat.

I whispered. Leo cracked his knuckles. “Then let’s make sure she regrets it.” Dante’s hand found mine again, a silent vow between us. “This war isn’t just mine to fight. It’s ours.” I squeezed his fingers, drawing strength from the promise. As the city stirred behind the walls of power, I felt the first true fire of my reign ignite — not the fire of destruction, but the fire of fierce, unyielding resolve. I was queen of ashes, yes.

Ironically, there was no love to be found in this arrangement. The priest turned to us. "Do you, Tatum, take Arden Voss to be your lawfully wedded spouse, to love and cherish till death do you part?" "I do," I answered softly. The priest nodded before turning to Arden. "And do you, Arden Voss, take Tatum to be your lawfully wedded spouse, to love and cherish till death do you part?" Silence. My breath caught. One second. Two. The air suddenly felt too thick to breathe.

I only catch fragments love, honor, duty. Things that mean nothing in a marriage like this. “Skyla Parker,” the officiant’s voice pulls me back to the present, “do you take Alonso Ignacio to be your lawfully wedded husband?” I swallow hard, the weight of the question heavier than I expected. This is it. The point of no return.

Our vows echo in my mind as consciousness slips away mid-air. “I, Eleanor Astrid Clawford, offer my blood to my mate. I vow to walk beside you under every moon, to bear my teeth when you are weak, to fight beside you when the world turns dark. My soul calls to yours—not in submission, but in strength. Bound by fate, not fear.”

“I will keep you safe. I swear it on my life, my blood, and my soul.” The cell stayed silent—but the vow reverberated inside me like a heartbeat. Unbreakable…

But I cling to the one thing I have left. Not pride. Not strength. Not wolf. Her. Her name. Her fire. Her crown. When she calls—whether with blade, with flame, or only with my name—I will crawl if I have to. Broken. Useless. Empty. It won’t matter. I failed her once. Never again. The whisper shakes, but it stands. My vow, scratched into stone. My promise, carved into ruin. “Never again.”

The priest turned towards Vanessa and asked her to repeat the vows after him. "I-I-I, Vanessa Lynn Gorbachev, t-take y-you, Joaquin, Emiliano and Alejandro Fernandez, t-to be my h-h-husbands, to have and t-to hold from t-t-this day forward, for better, f-for worse, for richer, for poorer, i-i-in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, t-till death us do p-p-part, a-according to God's h-holy law, i-i-in the presence of God I-I make this vow." Vanessa took more time in completing her sentence because of her stammering and felt embarrassed in front of a lot of people but the brothers were patiently waiting for her to finish her vow.

Her palms were calloused, warm, and entirely steady, banishing the phantom cold of the ancient limestone dais. "I take you," I said, Bridie's hands warm in mine, "with nothing held back for anything ancient or ordinary to find purchase in. Whatever comes for us next, I choose you first." The vow wasn't drawn from an ancient scripture or a state treaty negotiated by lawyers. It was the absolute, unyielding truth of every choice we had made when slaughter would have been simpler. I squeezed her fingers, letting the weight of my grip convey every word I didn't have the voice to speak before fifty spectators—that no shadow, no ancestral curse, and no spilled blood of the past would ever stand be

“Devandra might think he can take you away from me. But no. I won’t let you drift further. I’ll fight… even if it means fighting my own blood.” The night wind grew stronger, as if bearing witness to his vow. Adrian closed his eyes, then opened them again with a burning resolve. “I’m back, Deviana. And this time… I won’t give up.”
