I continued my steps along the long row of shops that lined the road. Ten minutes later I found it, a little blue restaurant that sells bagels. Exactly as Lana's description. This place doesn't even have a name. I stepped inside and read the row of menus on display after which I ordered Avocado Salmon and coffee. A few minutes later a man brought me a salmon bagel and my coffee. He placed them on my table with a smile. I thanked him while smiling back. It's little things like this that I like more about visiting a small shop or restaurant than a fancy restaurant.

I sent him the text and dropped my phone. He would respond probably later in the day. I opened the bag and saw a croissant-shaped pastry I smiled smugly as I reached into the bag. That was when I realized this wasn't a croissant. It was a bagel, though shaped exactly like a croissant to fool me. There was a small tub of butter and some cream cheese. What was this abomination? An everything bagel croissant bagel hybrid? I took a picture and sent it to him. "Really?" with an eye roll emoji.

Everyone will have the time to come here to shop since it wasn't a work day. "Wow. See that bag." Abigail screamed in excitement, and pulled Ava's hand. They both walked over to the bag. "Wow. This is just so beautiful." Abigail commented and picked up the bag. A big smile formed on her lips. This shows that she really love the bag. "Yeah. I agree with you." Ava checked the price tag, and widened her eyes in shock. She didn't expect the bag to be so expensive.

I smiled at the young girl behind the counter. “Welcome. What can I get for you today?” She asked with a huge smile on her face. “Can I get a cream cheese bagel with smoked salmon?” I asked. “Of course. Would that be all?” She asked. “Yes, thank you.” When she was done, I collected the delicious treat and headed to an empty booth. Was a bagel a sandwich? Who cares? It smelled heavenly. I took the first bite and literally moaned at how good it was.

Anne leaned closer and whispered conspiratorially, “Okay, okay. I won’t embarrass you in front of your girlfriend.” Sia laughed. She took a seat next to Anne, her eyes immediately locked onto the colourful array of breads on the table. “What are these?” she asked, unable to hide her curiosity. Anne smiled warmly. “This pink one here is something Abella and I came up with. It is made with strawberries and raspberries and we added beetroot to give it that vibrant pink color.” Sia’s eyes widened. “This looks amazing! Is it sweet?” Anne nodded. “Just a faint hint of sweetness. We kept it low on sugar.”

Abigail laughed more freely than she had in days. When the car stopped, they stepped out together, the smell of warm bread and sugar floating from the shop. The little confectionary looked almost the same as Abigail remembered. It had glass windows filled with cakes, pastries, and cookies, each one arranged with such care it felt like walking into a dream. “Ahh, it smells heavenly,” Maya said, taking a deep breath. “I could live here.” Abigail giggled. “You would eat everything in one day.” Maya looped her arm through hers. “And you’d help me.”

Aria could still stay alert because of the Charm Coin she'd dropped before coming in. The other four arcane practitioners were different, though—every single one was drooling over the bagels in the baskets. "That smells so good. Ma'am, your bagels really smell amazing." Aria hadn't thought much of it at first, but the people with her were acting way too weird. She sharpened her focus and looked more carefully. The bagels in the baskets had some unknown filling. The chowder looked more like pig brains, and the rock candy looked like it was made of paper.

He looked very put together in a crisp white shirt with a light gray cardigan over it. "Let's go. I'll take you out for bagels." Ten years later, the cafe was still there. The owner was still the same man, Aaron Becker, though his hair had gone a little grayer. "Heather, you're back!" Mr. Becker beamed from ear to ear when he saw me. "Yep. Two smoked salmon bagels, please," I said. "Coming right up!" The bagels tasted exactly the way they used to. I ate slowly, as if savoring everything I had lost over those ten years.

Jocelyn’s POV We decided to have a bagel spread set up for our wedding food. At Hemming Port the guards used to insist on stopping at this Bagel cafe after our runs. I used to always protest but secretly I loved it. There was always a spread of things layered out for you to choose from, different types hummus, cheese, cold meats, eggs, fresh cut tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce, baby spinach and spreads the list goes on. We had barely 24 hours to plan it simply came down to me asking him what was his favourite food. And he said bagels, so bagels it was.
