A servant entered carrying a wooden box. “My lord.” He placed it carefully on the table. Kael nodded. “You can leave.” The servant bowed and disappeared. I looked at the box. “What is that?” “Open it.” I climbed out of bed slowly and walked toward the table. Kael remained behind me. Inside the box was a collection of small things. A knitted pair of white socks. A soft blue scarf. Several packets of dried fruit. A tiny wooden wolf. And a folded blanket. I touched the blanket. It was incredibly soft. “What is all this?”

A growl leaves my chest when I see Alex’s eyes checking Sabine’s naked body, making him take a step back. “Here, you can cover her with this,” Alex said, pulling out a thermal blanket from his backpack. “Wait in the car” I commanded and Alex nodded before exiting, leaving me alone with Sabine. I felt Kieran backing down, I moved slowly to grab the bag with clothes Alex gave me. “Here, Ella sent some of her clothes, you know just in case”, he said, pulling out another plastic bag from his backpack. “And I have the thermal blanket in the car so you can cover her up” he added accentuating the word “you”.

I can smell the cheap alcohol on their scents and clearly they have been celebrating Skylar’s birthday the night before also.
