I felt a heart-wrenching pain in my chest, as well as a whimper within me that had to be from my wolf. I’d only just felt her presence and now it seems like she was leaving me so soon.

🐾 Beta Darren It had been almost four days since Alpha Jake left towards the Green Valley’s pack. I was sitting at his desk, going through all the paperwork he had left for me to check. He had been so absorbed with his mate, the lovely female Legolas meets Xena the Warrior Princess, that he left all the bullshit tasks to me.

Ranger huffed sharply and turned his head away, tail stiff. "You don’t like him either, do you?" I sighed, hot tears rolling down my cheeks. "I know. He’s the ‘other’ guy. But then there’s Nisi and Rapha, they asked me out again. Flowers, space, the possibility of something more..." It was baffling. Mentioning their names, Ranger’s tail started a slow wag. Soldier nudged my hand with his nose, eyes soft, almost relieved. I stared, stunned. "You… you like them? The grumpy, territorial Alphas who tried to lock me in a pack full of hostile wolves? You approve?"

“Don’t get used to it.” They were pulling out of the parking lot into a bush track when a white van suddenly cut them off. Four Vipers spilled out, guns drawn. “Ambush!” Ranger barked, reaching for his piece. Gunfire exploded. Bullets punched into the SUV’s side panels. Ranger returned fire, hitting one Viper in the chest. Tommy got another in the leg. But the third Viper was fast. He yanked open the back door, grabbed Lena by her hair, and started dragging her out. Her bad leg screamed in agony as it twisted.

Alpha Austin My wolf has been on edge since tomorrow we will be visiting the Everest Pack to meet about the missing children. ‘Could you quit! We will be seeing Jessica tonight. She’ll relieve your stress, Espin.’ I try to clam my wolf. ‘I don’t want her, I want mate! My mate!’ He growls out. I sigh.

And the weight inside him, the one that had been heavy for so long felt lighter somehow. He could still feel the echo of Darius’s touch. The way his voice had steadied him when everything else was falling apart, and he'd felt something running for him for once. He took a deep breath and stepped into the clearing. Wolves were already sparring in pairs, their grunts and shouts filling the air. Alex waved from across the yard, but Wayne only nodded back, heading straight for the weapons rack. Then he heard someone snick from behind him. “Well, well,” a voice drawled. “If it isn’t the Alpha’s pet project.”

There is a loud bang so close to my ear it stuns my wolf for a moment, which gives the arsehole a chance to pull his leg from my wolfs mouth and start hobbling down the beach. ‘Pathetic.’ My wolf snorts in disgust, and not a second later he pounces, landing on the bastards back. I feel my wolfs teeth sinking into the flesh at back of the runts neck, as if they were my own teeth. It is silent. Ranger and Ryder made short work of the other two, and this one is no longer for this world either. Usually I would have insisted we let one live long enough to see what information we could get out of them, but beasts will be beasts, and tonight there was no reining our beasts in.

After we finished Round Two in the elevator, Xander and I headed to my place to shower and had Round 3. One thing about wolf-shifters, they have stamina. "Are you sure you're not too tired to go tonight?" Xander asked, wrapping a white towel around his thin, muscular waist. I chuckled. "So, is that what this sexcapade was all about this afternoon? To tire me out so I wouldn't want to go tonight?" He shrugged, giving me a sexy smile as he pressed his lips to mine. "No. Not at all. You are just a hard woman to resist," he breathed against my lips and then gave me one last sweet kiss. "I'll see you in a minute."

Grant Walker POV “I am the biggest fool in the whole forest,” I tell my inner wolf as I stare at the black truck steering wheel. Ever since my pack guards find out about the death of Mars Reed's mother, my wolf does not dig any deeper into the dark secrets, because I truly believe Mars and Tyler Walker are the perfect couple living a beautiful life together in the woods. I feel like a complete stranger wolf trying to slide into their bond, and my mind is totally sure that messing with his life will only make Mars hate me forever!
