Death Wolf
A howl erupted from his throat, piercing through the night, sending birds scattering into the sky.
Then, with a snap, he lunged forward, his canines bared—ready to sink into my throat and finish it.
I whispered my last words.
"I... love y...ou, Zander."
As if my soul had been yanked from my body, darkness clouded my vision. My limbs felt weightless, the life draining out of me in slow, agonizing waves.
A monstrous roar echoed in the background, but I felt no pain.
Am I dead?
My eyelids fluttered open, and through the blur, I found his crimson eyes still locked onto mine. His breath fanned my face, his muscles coiled—but he didn’t strike.
