I knew they were itching to talk about me, but they were holding back because of Daryl's presence.
The elevator doors opened, and they left, their whispers fading into the distance. I could feel their eyes on me, even after they were gone.
"They couldn't do their morning routine," Daryl said, his voice laced with amusement. I looked at him, my heart pounding in my chest. "Morning routine?" I asked, my voice trembling slightly. He met my gaze, his eyes twinkling with humor. "Gossiping inside the elevator!" he said, his voice filled with amusement. I couldn't help but feel a wave of relief. He was on my side.
