The cat growled and lunged at him again, teeth bared, but the warrior stepped aside with fluid precision. “Woah! I think that cat’s overdue for a nap.” He said with a chuckle, glancing towards Lyra and motioning to the attacking animal. The wild cat flailed, its sharp teeth gnashing at his wrist, but he didn’t flinch. With a grunt, he swung the creature to the side with a force that sent it tumbling into the wet grass. The wild cat’s body flickered like a mirage for a moment, but it recovered quickly, spinning around and launching itself at the warrior once more, its body a blur of twisted motion.

He stepped in front of me, his black fur bristling, every muscle tensed for a fight we weren’t sure we could win.The warriors tightened their formation, their growls a low hum of defiance. But I could feel their fear, sharp and bitter, mixing with my own.The creature took a step forward, its claws gouging the earth, and I braced myself, Luna ready to fight to the death if it came to that. Nova whispered, her voice hoarse. “We did,” I told her. “Next, we open the tunnels between our packs,” I whispered, laying my head on her shoulder; she settled hers on top of me, and the vibrations through her were addicting. I was glad I lived, glad I was on this earth to witness this moment, to help them be part of it. Slowly, the werecats surrounding us fell to their knees; I watched the flicker of disbelief and raw emotions on their faces. What they felt here was only in fantasies, in bedtime stories, and it was so much more binding and connecting than I could have dreamed.

Leno said pointedly. I fold my arms in front of me. “Anything else, Beta Leeeeeno,” I said, scoffing while dragging his name. He stepped forward, standing in front of me. “You know you are lucky it was me and not my mate,” he said, grinning menacingly. I visibly shudder. I am not a warrior. I barely went through the training to shift our first time. But Nora came from another pack. She is scary in combat. I gulped and nodded. “Good, you do have a guard outside. Just ask him what you need, and we will get it,” he said while he walked away, his back to me, waving his hand.

I look out of the small window in my bathroom and see warriors running from their houses towards the Royal Mansion. 'We must protect our mate,' Kane growls in my mind. As much as I hate to admit it I know that he is right. We have to join the battle. Stripping off my clothes, I jump from my bedroom room window, shifting in the air before I land on all fours. My black wolf's fur shimmers in the moonlight as we run towards the royal mansion. By the time I arrive at the mansion the battle is in full swing. Warriors are ripping rogues apart with their bare hands as they attack. The stench of decay is heavy in the air and I know it is because of the rogues.

"Why didn't you just let it die?" "I don't know," I said and sighed. "It looked really hopeless, and I don't like it when something's being bullied." "That is the law of the jungle.
