I scrambled to my feet, ignoring the way the world tilted for a moment. Callista was already moving; a black, brown, and white hybrid was disappearing into the trees. I pushed myself after her, pushing through the pain and the fear of a hot coal in my gut. We raced through the undergrowth, the pounding of paws echoing through the forest floor. As we broke through the trees and twigs, the scene that greeted us was one of chaos and goriness. Our warriors, outnumbered and caught off guard, were being driven back by a pack twice their size. Scents of blood and fear hung heavy in the air—a grim power of battle.

An all-out catfight I was going to make them regret ever cursing my family and kidnapping my world. I was going to show them the monster they created, and at this point, I didn't care if everyone in the whole town knew my secret. I was going to get my family back in one piece. I was determined to win the war, even if it meant sacrificing everything I had. I had to become a warrior if I was going to fight for my family. I realized at that moment what being a panther was truly about. I was ready to fight for the freedom of my family.
