Hunted
I said nothing, glaring at the snow beneath me.
“You have thirty seconds to run,” Desmond sneered, his grin a twisted parody of joy. “Run for your fucking life.” He leaned closer, his breath warm and sickening against my face. “Because when I find you…” he trailed off, standing back with his pack as the sound of bones snapping filled the air.
He didn't need to finish his words for me to know what he wanted to say. The same words had always rang in my head. …He will hunt.
“Fuck,” I muttered, my voice barely audible over the snarls. I pushed to my feet, my boots slipping in the snow. My legs felt weak, unused to the sudden force for movement, but I forced myself to stumble forward.
