The first-alert ships—the ones that launched at the first sign of trouble, were kept on the ground level. As they walked, Avi was awestruck by the scale of the operation. Her gaze drifted toward a cordoned-off section where five sleek ships sat under heavy guard. The personnel there wore different uniforms from the rest of the maintenance crews. “Officer Azar,” Avi asked, pointing, “what department do those ships belong to?” Azar followed her gaze and smiled. “Those belong to the Slayers. They have their own crews and their own security detail.” Lees nodded toward a smaller ship off to the right. “And that one?”

"Smoke's clearing a bit to the west. Wait... ships. Lots of them. Ezra, confirm?" Ezra whistled low. "Holy crap. Lila's launching everything. Hybrid warships, at least thirty. Big ones with those weird glowing cannons. They're heading straight for Blackthorn waters." I strained my eyes against the glare. Sure enough, from our height the flee,t looked like a swarm of steel predators cutting through the waves far below. "She's going all in. Kenji, can you get us closer without being spotted? I need to see their formation."

There were moon sized arks, on which most of the civilian population lived, worked, and eventually died; supply ships, which carried the raw material required to sustain the Armani; and three types of warships, including battle ships, destroyers, and fighters. The commander moved forward looking at each of his men, he couldn't see clearly the sky was fiery red, arrows were flying everywhere. One of the arrows hit the sail. All around him there was fire. Men were still burning or were half burned. The battle didn't end well for the Tharans, the history books were true in that part. The crystal had finished the visions. Three days later, it was time to leave the werecats kingdom after a treaty was set. All the leaders of shifters and demons were present at the treaty. Two days ago. Vee dropped one of her swords. Killian couldn’t wait any longer. He let go of the rope and launched himself towards the ground. As he fell, he shifted, the power rippled up his spine. He landed hard on all four and took off at a sprint just as Vee fell to her knees. The Werecat landed a hard blow to Vee’s head and she collapsed. The cat had its jaws just inches from Vee’s throat when Killian tackled the beast and they went rolling sideways. They were maw to maw as the warriors started raining down above them. The Shifters started to fall back as the warriors began cutting them down in huge swatches.

They fought for me because I was the only predator vicious enough to break them. "The western fleet is fully loaded, Alpha," Captain Vance murmured, stepping out from the shadow of the iron pillars. He, too, had been remade by the brutality of this continent. A jagged scar ran from his temple to his jaw, a reminder of the crossing we had barely survived. "Three thousand Oakhaven wolves. The new silver-tipped ballistas are mounted on the longships. The merchant vessels we seized from the Northern trade lanes provided enough grain to feed the vanguard for a six-month siege."
