Elara, a young woman believed to be a "lowly Omega," spent her life in the shadows of the Iron Claw Pack. She lived a secret romance with her Alpha boyfriend, Kaelen, believing his promises of a future together. However, the moment the Moon Goddess revealed them as fated mates, Kaelen’s true colors emerged. Seeking a mate with political power to help him conquer more lands, he rejected Elara with cold cruelty. To ensure her total submission, he branded her his "property" and ordered his bodyguards to beat her before imprisoning her as a sex slave. Driven by a desperate survival instinct and a strange, subconscious hum of power she does not yet understand, Elara escaped the Iron Claw fortress and fell into the freezing, jagged Black River, which swept her across the border. Silas, the Alpha of the North and a man carrying the savage, intense blood of the Lycans, found Elara’s broken body tangled in the roots of a willow tree. The " Mate" bond struck Silas with the force of a landslide. his Lycan instincts demand a level of protection and "clingy" devotion that is both terrifying and beautiful. He carried her to his private suite, refusing to let anyone near her, and began a slow, meticulous process of healing her . Elara is beginning to heal, slowly trading her fear for a tentative trust in the "velcro-like" Silas. She has just begun to experience the safety of his physical presence, finding comfort in the massive Alpha’s arms. Yet, secrets still linger beneath the surface. While the Iron Claw gathers its strength at the border, the Lycan King and his Mate have found a fragile peace in the quiet of the mountain—a peace that is about to be tested by the dark marks of the past.

Chapter 1: The Weight of Silver

POV: Elara (The Protagonist)

The air in the dungeon of the Iron Claw Pack didn't just smell like damp stone and rot; it smelled like betrayal. It was a thick, cloying scent that clung to the back of my throat, reminding me with every shallow breath that the man I had loved the man I had kept secrets for was the same man who had just shattered my soul.

Kaelen. My "Alpha."

I leaned my head against the freezing wall of the cell, my body trembling so violently that the chains around my wrists rattled against the floor. The sound was deafening in the silence. Only weeks ago, those same hands had held mine under the moonlight. He had promised me that once he consolidated his power over the southern territories, we wouldn't have to hide anymore. He had called me his "Little Omega," a pet name I thought was out of affection.

I was a fool.

"You’re nothing but a tool, Elara," his voice echoed in my mind, cold and sharp as a blade. The memory of the rejection ceremony in front of his inner circle played on a loop. He hadn't just rejected me as his mate; he had stripped me of my dignity. He needed a Luna with a lineage that brought armies, not a "low-ranked" orphan with a weak scent.

When the Moon Goddess had flared the bond between us last week, revealing me as his fated mate, I had seen the flash of disgust in his eyes instead of joy. To him, I was a mistake of destiny.

"I can't make you my luna, but you can be my slave at my beck and call," he had hissed, before turning me over to his guards. "Beat her until submissive." Those were his orders. My back burned, the skin shredded from the silver-laced whip they had used to ensure my wolf stayed suppressed. Every time my wolf, Nala, tried to whimper or heal, the silver poison in my veins surged, pinning her down.

"We have to move," Nala’s voice was a faint rasp in my mind. "Elara, if we stay, we die in this cage.'

"I can’t," I thought, hot tears stinging my eyes. "I’m an Omega, Nala. I’m nothing."

"Lies," she snarled, a spark of something strange something that felt like static and ancient earth flickering in the depths of my consciousness. "He told you that to keep you small. Break the lock."

I looked at the iron gate. Kaelen’s head guard, a man who had laughed while he struck me, sat at the end of the hall, his back turned. He thought I was too broken to move.

I closed my eyes and reached deep inside. I didn't look for my wolf. I closed my eyes taking in a deep breath and saw the "other" thing the hum of power my mother had told me to never, ever speak of. She had told me it was a curse, a witch’s mark that would get us burned. But right now, it was the only thing I had.

I whispered a word in a language I didn't know I knew.

The air in the cell grew heavy. A faint purple light, invisible to any wolf’s eyes, pulsed from my fingertips. The lock on the door didn't just click; it dissolved.

I didn't waste a second. I crawled out of the cell, my movements as silent as a ghost’s. My heart was a drum in my ears, thudding 180 beats per minute. I passed the guard, my breath held until my lungs burned.

The exit to the Iron Claw fortress led to a cliffside overlooking the Black River—the boundary between Kaelen’s territory and the forbidden lands of the North. The water was a churning, white-capped monster below.

"Hey! The bitch is out!"

The shout from behind me sent a jolt of pure adrenaline through my system. I didn't look back. I knew the sounds of their boots, the heavy thud of shifting wolves. Kaelen would be leading them. He wouldn't let his "slave" escape his first night of ownership, his father had been a ruthless ruler and so was he too.

I reached the edge of a cliff. The wind tore at my rags, chilling the blood on my back.

"Elara! Stop!" Kaelen’s voice boomed, his Alpha command slamming into me like a physical wall. My knees buckled. My wolf wanted to submit. She wanted to crawl back to him and beg for a scrap of his attention.

I bit my lip until I tasted copper, using the pain to break the command. I turned and saw him the man I had loved standing there with a cruel smirk, surrounded by his powerful elite.

"You have nowhere to go," he said, stepping forward. "Come back, and maybe I’ll only have them whip you once more."

"I would rather die," I whispered.

I looked at the dark, rushing water below. It looked like death. But as I looked at the man who had betrayed me, who had with those mouth which he had ordered my scars, the water felt like mercy.

I stepped backward into the abyss jumping off.

The fall felt like an eternity. The wind screamed in my ears, and for a split second, I felt a strange warmth wrap around my body—like a cloak made of shadows and moonlight.

Then, the cold hit.

The river was a jagged, icy hand that pulled me under immediately. I struck a rock, the air leaving my lungs in a rush of bubbles. The current was too strong. I was being swept away, away from the Iron Claw, away from the man who hated me.

"Live", the strange voice in my head whispered, sounding less like a wolf and more like a queen. "Live", and show them what a real Alpha looks like.

My head hit something hard, and the world went black.
