One shove and my shoulder splintered the lock, wood cracking as the door burst open.
“Elizabeth!”
I was ready for blood,ready for fangs, claws, magic, anything that could explain the terror in her voice, I was ready to fight.
Instead I froze at the sight before me.
There they were, Elizabeth curled on the sofa, wide eyed but perfectly fine, a bowl of popcorn balanced on her lap. Beside her, the witch calmly turned down the television volume with the remote, her lips pursed as if annoyed at the interruption.
On screen, a woman ran screaming through a foggy forest, chased by something unseen.
