I glared at her with an icy stare. Her grip on my arm loosened, her hand trembling as she let go. "You have no idea what Travis meant to me! I can't live without him. I'm the one who truly loves him most in this world." Elaine's expression suddenly turned vicious, like a snake preparing to strike. "Ha! Travis never forgets a grudge. When he finds out you faked your death and fooled him all this time, he'll destroy you!"

I thought just as a stronger sensation hit me in my core. Dark spots block my vision as the warriors began to turn against each other. Dimitri lets me go only to join the newcomers in the fight. Growling and snarling as the news of the Alpha's death instigated the fray. I blinked as I see Declan's head roll over on the ground, stopping at my feet. I look down at it. The world around me spins and my stomach sinks, right before everything turns black. "Elara!"

Everything that’s been churning inside me for days is finally bubbling up, ready to explode. “I was going to kill you!” I burst out. The three of them exchange confused glances. “Just like Quinton killed Felicity,” I add, my voice cracking. More hot tears sting my eyes. “I was going to kill you. I watched him kill her during the battle, and I realized that could have been us. That could have been us killing each other.” Frost reaches out to brush my still wet hair over my shoulder. “It was not, however. We’re safe.”

A desperate wail tore from my throat. Watching me writhe in pain, Sophia's voice dripped with triumph: "Once you're dead, the Luna's throne will be mine." I thrashed, fighting for breath, but every gasp only drew in more wolfsbane-laced water. My life force drained away at terrifying speed. Consciousness blurred, then faded. Minutes later, my last breath dissolved into the darkness. The water dungeon fell silent once more, leaving only a cold corpse for the water snakes to feast upon.

My body trembles, adjusting to this warmer temperature, and soon, sleep comes over me. I know I must find help, but I am just so...tired. I don't fight it in the end. Cold hands are placed on both of my cheeks. It's uncomfortable, and I try to pull back from their hold. My eyes open, and Death looks at me, relief in his eyes. "You're awake! I thought for sure the deal that we made would have been all for naught! And just as it was getting interesting." he says, leaning back, and twirling his scythe.

“Take a steamy hot shower to relax you while I’m gone. I won’t be gone too long.” Nodding my head, I kiss him. I watch Zane disappear as shadows wrap around him. I’m not sure if he really finds Death’s realm creepy or if he was just saying that, so I wouldn't want to go. I have to be honest. I don’t want to see where Death lives. I don’t think I will like it and I’m not for it. I’m happy to stay behind and take a hot shower. Zane can deal with Death. I have a feeling Zane is one of the few who can face Death head-on without fear. Just another reason he is different. I wonder why. I know he said he would tell me, but it’s killing me to know.

I could still feel the life inside of the Luna, but I had the feeling it would be gone soon if I didn’t act quickly. Once Death touched her, there would be no turning back. “You cannot have her until she is dead.” I spat through gritted teeth, and almost jumped when he chuckled. The dark, yet amused sound set off alarm bells. He was enjoying this, watching me fight with everything I had to save the soul he was there to claim. I couldn’t afford the distraction of looking up at him, but I was very aware of his dark presence as he watched me work. Quickly, his amusement switched to anger, and he released a low, threatening growl that shook me to my core.

Zach releases my hand and stands, meeting Alter’s eyes. I’m watching the exchange with wide eyes. Zach is challenging a Prince. This will either end in a draw, or Zach possibly dying. “I think you should know Alpha; I have already killed to claim my mate. I won’t hesitate to do it again,” the Prince flashes a mischievous smile that scares me.
