We Went Back Novels & Stories

I mumbled while playing with my fingers, “How can I make it up to you two?” “Just give us a kiss when we get back home.” Eli playfully winked. I chuckled before shaking my head. Eli and I spoke for quite some time before we all decided to check out and go back home to the city. This time, we took their private jet. Everyone was having fun inside because there were numerous snacks stocked up in the fridge, including drinks. I was having fun watching them let loose. We all need that because I have this feeling that the rest of the week will be critical for us.

Zeke replied, slightly smiling. She walked back to her mother. She waved her hand to us and walked away with her mother. “Should we go back home now?” Zeke ask me then I immediately nodded awkwardly. He took me back to the car and drove back to home. Maybe everything can be normal for us.

We fixed our faces and stepped out of the room chattering amongst ourselves while they tried to catch me up on all that i missed. I'm so glad I chose to come back.

There might be an enemy there. I nodded, and then we went back to Allison's car.

And somewhere, deep in the marrow of my bones, I knew: We were finding our way back to each other. One small, precious step at a time.

"But he figured it out eventually and we found our way back to each other." Everyone laughed.

Just there because we both allow it. I look at the edge of the clearing. At the path that leads back. At the place everything started to come apart. And the place we have to return to. Not as who we were. Not as what we almost became. Something else. Something we haven’t named yet. “I think we should go back,” I say. He nods. No argument. No question. Just agreement. We take the first step at the same time. Not because something made us. Because we decided to.

“This doesn’t mean it’s over.” Axel kicked a loose stone and cursed under his breath. “Let’s get out of here. We need to return back to the pack house. We’ve been gone too long already.” We left before sunrise. We stepped back into the woods and walked back through the trees. No one really said much of anything. My feet ached. My mind spun. The ache in my loins hadn’t gone away, not even a little. By the time we slipped back into the pack house, the sky was already bright with the morning light.

And neither of us wanted to go back. We were both partners in this game.

Now I was ready to return to the family gathering. Together, we went back into the house and returned to the others.
