MAEVE POV I didn’t get it. I spent the last hour—maybe more—reading chapter after chapter in this pregnancy book, while Xaden busied himself with a pile of paperwork and a few phone calls to several dignitaries, but nothing I read bore any similarities to what I was experiencing. Fetal weight gain was not unheard of. Sizing nearly twice as much as he should have within the first month, however, was apparently an alien concept. Such weight gain didn’t normally happen until much later in the pregnancy.

"No, you said I'm gaining weight." "Which is a good thing, is it not?" Merri pursued her lips. "You're not fat Merri, all I'm saying is you're putting on a good health amount of weight." Feeling emotional, Merri felt her tears right below her eyes as she quivered. "I hardly eat anything, how could I be gaining weight. Please Thomas, tell me this is all a banter?!"

“Or do you just not care because you’ve never had to control yourself?” “I’ll clean it,” I say quickly. “I’ll make more.” He laughs. Short. Ugly. “Make more?” His eyes drag over me, slow and deliberate. “You’ve already had plenty, haven’t you?” My face burns. I stare at the floor. At the sauce spreading between the cracks. “You know what people see when they look at you?” he continues. “They see a fat girl who doesn’t know when to stop. Eating. Standing. Existing. Just too much.”

I loved it. Being pushed. Stretched. Trained. Treated like a real wolf. I got dirty. I got tired. I got stronger. That was the best part. Within three weeks, I'd gained real weight. It wasn't just the comfortable pounds from eating real food and finding a place to belong. This weight was muscle and mass. Every day, I woke feeling more solid on my feet than before. Though my muscles ached and complained at every sunrise, failing me by sunset, I relished the strength that came with it.

I follow her to the scale where she weighs me. “One hundred and sixty-five pounds. How tall are you?” “Five foot three,” I tell her. “She nods and writes that down. I seemed to have already gained some weight. I didn’t think I would for another month or so. I mean five pounds doesn’t seem like a lot to most people but for him it’s a ton. I have always struggled with my weight. So, five pounds is easy to gain and hard to lose.

On the outside, I just looked overweight, but inside, I was a mess. Two months later, I felt like a new person. "For the next ten months, you'll need to undergo intensive fitness training and weight loss. I'll closely monitor your health, diet, and daily routine," he explained. I watched him fill a notebook with plans. I wanted to make a snarky comment but bit my tongue. I didn't know how I could ever repay him. Looking at the training plan, though, I felt overwhelmed. The diet consisted of nothing but steamed vegetables, zero-calorie options, intermittent fasting, and weight loss methods I'd never heard of.

I've gotta say I'm proud of myself. I wasn't always overweight. I've been in the normal BMI range the entire school years until I broke up with my boyfriend after graduation. From there on, I went into this steep line of climbing towards overweight in just three months that from a normal size 6, I went to size 12, sometimes 10 if I wear clothes fit to my body but mostly 12, because I like baggy clothes to hide my figure. So yeah, it's all because of that motherfucker. He didn't just broke my heart, he inspired me to eat crappy food -as crappy as him- that I swell everywhere with fat, making me gain kilos that I hadn't been able to lose until ten years later.

Kiara's pov "Caught in a lie" That was the name of the Novel I read. Our dear author just had to lock the chapters in the end, which made the last chapters open only if you pay. And always I left it as I don't want to waste my money for just a novel. I could have used it for something else.

I said while smiling. " You can't possibly blame me for that. They are so sweet, and they love my cooking, so I love to pamper them with whatever they want. But I still wonder how come they are so thin? I only have to look at my favorite dishes, and I gain weight. " Mrs Ghomes said with a grin. " There is nothing like that; you are so cute and charming. You are not overweight, just a little plump. " I said with a smile.

"I thought you were like those characters that don't trust food prepared outside, and cook for themselves with their mom's recipe because the old housekeeper who had been living with gorgeous lonely them just died yesterday." "How many novels have you been reading?" I asked drily. "I didn't count," she replied. "Anyway, don't you have a long table that stretches from one wall to the other and you fill it with food for every meal?" My goodness, was this woman serious? "I may eat, in your words, 'normal food'," I said, "but nobody eats like whatever character you're describing. Really. How does the character himself even eat like that?" "By doing it," she shrugged. "It's fiction. It's not supp
