Hardened like stone around the edges, molten and pulsing at the core, because our lives are tied to the moon and bloodlust. And right now, those hearts were laid out like fancy steak platters. Still beating, barely alive, bound by some twisted vampire magic that kept them pulsing slowly. Like drums of torment.

I smirked and lifted my eyes, and the werewolf in front of me gasped, looking at the color of my eyes. Without warning, I put my hand into the werewolf's chest His eyes widened, but before he realized what was happening, I yanked my hand away, tearing his heart out. He immediately collapsed to the ground, and I squeezed the blood from his heart, causing it to stream onto the ground.

“Are you crazy? Are you asking for our Alpha's death?” An angered elder yelled out at Savannah, who didn't seem to care. “Yes. You want him to stab his own and wolf's heart? That's just telling him to end his own life.” Another elder added, but Savannah didn't seem to budge. It is well known that a werewolf’s life belongs in his wolf’s heart. To kill a werewolf, you have to take out his wolf's heart and destroy it.
