Just a moment, dear.” A small whir came from the side printer, and Miss Ada retrieved a fresh library card with Ryleigh’s name printed in bold at the bottom. “Here you go,” she said, handing it over. “You can check out five books at a time. They’re due back in two weeks. If we’re closed, there’s a drop box right by the front door.”

He held my hand so he could lift himself up before straightening his posture. The registrar’s eyes grew wide as soon as she saw Weston. She seemed caught off-guard, and she blinked a couple of times in disbelief. I almost gasped and my mouth almost gaped when Weston laid a hand on the registrar’s shoulder saying, “That is okay, madam. We will surely take the internet.” The registrar flinched and she was quick to shove Weston’s hand off her shoulder. She scowled and she was about to scream when she remembered that we were in a library.
