She hugged him. Cold, but his heart still matched hers.
“We did it,” she sobbed. “The Board’s gone. The stories are free.”
Julian looked at the green sky. “They’re not gone. We crashed their computer, but they’re rebuilding. Version 2.0. And now, there’s a bounty on us.”
He pulled out a glowing compass, its needle leading toward a bright spot on the horizon.
“The Ghostwriter sent word—there’s a place called The Archive, where stories live after they’re finished and loved. If we get there, the Board can’t touch us.”
