So delicate and helpless that everyone would wish to protect her. I shook my head and glanced at the white orb that was placed in the center of the table in front of Ryan and the girl. This was the divine orb that was said to be blessed by the nature witches, said to be the descendants of the moon goddess herself. All packs had one in them and they were used in the most important ceremonies, such as the ascension of the Alpha and Luna and for the mating ceremonies. It can also verify the mate bond between two people. When a couple places their hands together on top of the orb, if it glows, then they are mates.. I sighed as I looked away from the orb. This was the same orb that had witnessed

"If I die tomorrow, I can say that I have no regrets to take with me to the grave." Matteo watches her look out onto the street below as she takes a sip. "Do you know what Omertà actually means?" she asks. "You swore to it, but do you know what it means?" "Yes, it means I can never say anything to the police if it ever comes to it, to save my own ass. Basically, I swore not to be a snitch." His grandma scrunches her nose. "I don't like that word." "Sorry. But I know what the oath symbolizes." She doesn't seem convinced. ~Xavier~ Before going into the field, all members of the mafia undergo a series of training. Not only to prepare our body from the brutal reality of this lifestyle and our mental ability to cope with every situation. Omertà is an oath of loyalty and silence. We all swore to die instead of betraying la Famiglia. Zia, however, didn’t receive that amount of training to strengthen her endurance in these circumstances. "How do you know I'll keep my promise?" I smile, coyly. "The same way I know you follow the Omerta." Her eyes narrowed. "How do you know about that?" "The streets talk," I lied. "The Omerta isn't just a Code of Silence in your world but a Code of Honor. One I know your family takes very, very seriously." I know she doesn't believe me about my source but she knows I won't give anything up. Her eyes search mines, probing me for some hidden secret. With blood, we go.” I met her gaze. “This, my dear, is the Omerta tattoo of Cosa Nostra.” She swiped the image to Domenico’s. A very shirtless Domenico. I had never met Domenico Guerra upfront, but I had gotten a good idea of how he looked. If he and Adonis walked into the room, all eyes would turn to Domenico first before moving to Adonis.
