The Beta's Daughter
I clutched the small piece of notepaper in my fist, and then settled myself on the grass to read it.
My vision blurred as I tried to fix my eyes on the page. I squeezed my eyes shut, and then pulled them open slowly. Sucking in a deep breath, I began to read. It was much shorter than the other clues, and I gnawed at my lip and frowned down at it. It read, quite simply:
What lies beneath is found above.
Hide and seek are now one.
I exhaled heavily, my chest heaving as I puffed out all of the air in my lungs at once. What lies beneath sounded like something lost at sea, but Dakota had said that everything was hidden between Wildflower Way and Wildflower Meadow.
