"Let them run," Noah said, his voice quiet, steady, and full of raw weight. He closed the red leather folder and held it tight under his arm.
He turned around and walked back into the warm sitting room.
The house was quiet now, save for the crackle of the fireplace. Caleb, Anna, Sarah, and Eleanor were all standing near the sofa, their faces pale as they waited to hear what had happened on the porch.
