Whispers of a Second Chance
My arms wrapped around him instinctively, a silent response to the raw honesty in his confession.
"No," I whispered, my voice choked with emotion, "it was my choice to keep Marco from you. I'm sorry too, for not believing you, for letting my anger dictate my life, for letting hatred consume me." My words were a confession as well, a release of years of bitterness and resentment. He pulled back slightly, his eyes searching mine.
"There's something else I need to tell you," he said, his voice low and intense. My heart pounded in my chest.
"What is it?" I asked, my voice barely a whisper, our gazes locked, the unspoken words hanging heavy between them.
