I close my eyes. And then i hear it. A tiny whisper at the edge of the room, soft and thin like an echo that barely survived the collapse. “Host.” My eyes open slowly. The room stays still. Dream breathes quietly beside me, unaware. The whisper floats again, a little clearer but still faint, like the last trace of a voice that should not exist anymore. “Host,” it says gently. My heart tightens. The sound is both familiar and new, like a distant memory trying to speak through mist.

I could hear her heartbeat—fluttering fast, loud, betraying the mask of calm she was trying to wear. “Your heart’s racing,” I murmured, my lips brushing the shell of her ear. “Do I make you nervous, little mate?” My hand moved, slow and possessive, trailing along the edge of her nightie at her side. The fact is that if I will be seen by such creature my demise would be imminent. It was rather odd that En was quite in this whole endeavor.
