"Oh, there you are. Finally decided to join us, oh great leader?" I followed her gaze up the sweeping staircase, and it was all I could do to keep myself from audibly gasping. My lungs simply stopped working. Silas was stunning. There was simply no other word for it. He was wearing a charcoal-grey, well-tailored suit that looked like it had been stitched directly onto his frame. It hugged his broad shoulders and narrow waist perfectly, emphasizing every inch of that powerful physique I’d seen by the pool. The white dress shirt underneath was so crisp like it had never been worn, the collar sharp against his tanned skin.

Zephyr patted his tunic and Carol nodded twice, blinking innocently as it dived under his tunic again silently. I sighed and looked at the Uriko brother who addressed the gathering. Both of them had waist length black hair. They were slim, tall and looked just like models. Asashi was wearing a navy blue long lolita coat with an intricate golden thread and button work. Aera was wearing a black lolita coat with silver thread and button work.

"Your gown for tonight is... unconventional. I took the liberty of coordinating with the theme." I walked over to the trunk. Resting inside was a dress made of midnight-blue lace so fine it looked like woven smoke, layered over silk the color of a deep bruise. Beside it lay a mask carved from obsidian, shaped like a rising phoenix. It was beautiful, but as I touched the cold stone, it felt heavy. "What are you wearing?" I asked, looking at the second suit. Silas pulled a black velvet frock coat from the rack, paired with a silver wolf mask. "The wolf and the phoenix. Arthur would have loved the symbolism. The predator and the thing that refuses to stay dead."

Devoured. Roxy let out a low whistle. "Damn, big bro. Didn't know you cleaned up like that." Tory grinned. "Where has this been hiding?" I rolled my eyes, adjusting my cuffs. The suit fit like it had been made for me, the charcoal gray fabric hugging my frame just right. Gaia's lips parted slightly. She looked like she wanted to reach out but wasn't sure she should. Suki wasn't even pretending not to stare, head tilted, eyes dragging over every inch of me like she was trying to commit it to memory.

They eye the warriors wearily before rising, shrugging into coats. I glance at one of them in particular as he slides his muscled arms into an old, brown leather jacket, his head bowed, his face just out of sight. Black gloves catch my attention. It curls softly, the ends shining a golden blond like it’s highlighted from the sun… or the unforgiving fluorescent lighting.

It illuminates the floating dust motes like suspended gold, a stark contrast to the shadows clinging to the peeling frescoes of saints who look down on me with indifferent eyes. The air smells of dry rot, ancient incense, and the damp, earthy scent of stone that has forgotten the sun. I am the offering. He whispered huskily and just as he finished my face turned bright red on realisation of what the situation was.
