Dante grabbed her waist, trying to pull her toward the tall grass.
“I can’t, Dante!” June gasped. She looked down—small glowing green vines were growing out of the sand, wrapping her ankles like ropes. “I’m stuck. The debt... it’s holding me to the ground.”
The bone-ship hovered straight above the beach. A beam of white light shot down from its center, hitting the water far out, and started boiling the sea. From the light, tall figures walked onto the water’s surface. Thin, in silver armor. No guns; just long, hooked spears.
